What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser so that it can recognise your device when you return or move between pages. Session cookies expire when you close your browser; persistent cookies remain until they expire or you delete them.
First-party cookies are set by the site you are visiting, and third-party cookies by another organisation's service used on that site. Similar technologies, such as local storage and tracking pixels, work in comparable ways, and this notice covers them too.
How we use cookies
We group cookies by what they do, using the same categories as the cookie preferences panel, which shows a category only if the site uses cookies of that kind. Only essential cookies run until you make a choice.
| Category | What it does | Your choice |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Keeps the site secure and working, for example by remembering your cookie choice and protecting our forms against abuse | Always on, because the site cannot work properly without them |
| Analytics | Counts visits and shows which pages are read most, so that we can improve the site; configured to collect as little personal information as it needs | Off until you switch it on |
| Marketing | Would let advertising platforms show you Arke Technologies adverts on other websites | Not used on this website; if that changes, off until you switch it on |
If we ever introduce marketing cookies, we will update this notice first and ask for your consent before setting them.
The cookies on this website
This table lists each cookie and similar technology the site uses, with its provider, purpose and lifetime.
| Name | Provider | Category | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Consent record (name set at build) | Arke Technologies (first party) | Essential | Stores your cookie choice so that we do not ask again on every visit | 12 months |
Designer note: populate this table from a cookie scan of the finished site before launch, including anything set by embedded services, and keep it current whenever the site changes.
Your choices
01.
Choose on your first visit
When the site uses optional cookies, a banner asks for your choice, and only essential cookies run until you decide. Refusing optional cookies takes one click, just as allowing them does, and closing the banner keeps essential cookies only. If the site uses essential cookies alone, no banner appears, because there is nothing to choose.
02.
Change your mind at any time through "Cookie preferences" in the footer of every page. From then on we set only the categories you allow; to remove cookies already stored, delete them in your browser.
03.
Use your browser settings to block or delete cookies. If you block essential cookies, parts of the site, such as the contact form, may not work.
Embedded content and our other websites
Maps, videos and other content embedded from outside services can set their own cookies, so we load such content only when you choose to show it.
This notice covers arketechnologies.com only. Our other websites, serverhub.co.za (opens serverhub.co.za) for Server Hub and fibreboyz.co.za (opens fibreboyz.co.za) for Fibre Boyz, and the AtlasOS site (opens atlaspractice.app), manage their own cookies.
Cookies and your personal information
South Africa has no separate cookie law. Where a cookie collects personal information, such as an IP address or a device identifier linked to you, the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) applies, and our privacy notice explains how we handle that information and your rights, including the right to object.
We rely on your consent for analytics cookies, and for marketing cookies if we ever use them, and on our legitimate interest in a secure, working website for essential ones. Where an analytics provider processes information outside South Africa, the transfer takes place only as section 72 of POPIA allows. This notice sits alongside our website terms of use.
If your organisation needs a consent set-up like this on its own website, our website development team builds cookie consent and POPIA form notices into the websites it delivers.
Changes to this notice
We update this notice when the cookies on the site change. The date at the top shows the current version, and we ask for your consent again if we add a category that needs it.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Arke Technologies website use cookies? Show answer Hide answer
Yes. The site uses essential cookies to stay secure and working, for example to remember your cookie choice and protect our forms. Analytics cookies run only if you allow them, and we do not set marketing or advertising cookies. The table on this page lists each cookie, its provider, its purpose and how long it lasts.
Can I use the site if I reject cookies? Show answer Hide answer
Yes. If you refuse optional cookies, you can still read every page and use the contact form, because only essential cookies are needed for that. If you block all cookies in your browser, including the essential ones, some features, such as submitting a form, may not work properly.
How do I change my cookie choices? Show answer Hide answer
Select "Cookie preferences" in the footer of any page, switch categories on or off, and save. Your new choice applies from then on. To remove cookies already stored, delete them in your browser settings. You can also block cookies in your browser, although blocking essential cookies may stop some features working.
Do cookies collect personal information under POPIA? Show answer Hide answer
Some do. A cookie that records an IP address or a device identifier linked to you collects personal information, so POPIA applies to it. We keep essential cookies to what the site needs, use analytics only with your consent, and handle any personal information they collect as our privacy notice describes, including your rights to access and object.
Does Arke Technologies use cookies for advertising? Show answer Hide answer
No. We do not use marketing, advertising or cross-site tracking cookies on arketechnologies.com, and we do not sell information collected through cookies. If we ever introduce marketing cookies, we will update this notice and ask for your consent before setting them. Our other websites, such as Server Hub's, manage their own cookies.
